ANC staffers are on strike over non-payment of salaries. The party did not pay staff on time this month. In July, they were not paid at all.

“We are not on a go-slow. We are on tools down until our demands are met, and those demands are not only salaries,” said the ANC’s staff representative chair, Mvusi Mdala.

“We are talking to the question of our provident fund that has not been paid since 2018, November. We are talking about UIF that has not been paid.

The question of employees, who have been within the ANC for more than 18 months on a temporary basis. We want all of them to be deemed permanent.

“Also the question of medical aid that is continuously on a monthly basis being suspended during this pandemic that is taking a toll on our staff members in terms of paying bills.
