The murder trial of Eldorado Park teenager Nathaniel Julies will resume on Tuesday morning at the Johannesburg High Court sitting at Palm Ridge East of Johannesburg. The 16-year-old who had Down Syndrome was shot and killed in August last year, allegedly by police.
The three officers accused of his murder have pleaded not guilty to all six charges they are facing. The charges range from murder and unlawful possession of ammunition to accessory to murder.
First state witness, Tasneem Kaldine who was at her home at the time said she had heard a loud bang and went outside to take a look. She testified that she saw one of the officers dragging Julies into the police van.
“He pulled him out under the truck. He was struggling. That’s why I was wondering what was he looking for there. It looked like the boy was lying under the truck. Then he picked him up under the arms and he carried him to the van.
“He then got into the van, put the lights on and the siren and drove off. The time I got out by the gate he was gone,” says Kaldine.
