Gauteng health facilities affected after pipe burst disrupts water supply! A major pipe burst on one of Rand Water’s pipelines is causing significant water flow disruptions to some health facilities in parts of the West Rand and Johannesburg districts.

The Department of Health in Gauteng said several clinics in the West Rand, including Mogale City Municipality, Fanyana Nhlapo and Eric Ndeleni, have no water, with back-up water tankers also empty.

Gauteng Department of Health spokesperson, Motalatale Modiba, said contingency measures have been activated to ensure water tankers can be dispatched.

“We are working to ensure that we can continue with providing services to communities and to patients in the particular affected facilities. All affected facilities, at this stage, they remain open, and they are operational, albeit with these difficulties of having to coordinate alternative water supplies.”
