The State has also dropped the fraud charges against alleged 28s gang boss, Ralph Stanfield, and his wife, Nicole Johnson.
The State accused Booi and others of manipulating housing tenders on behalf of Stanfield and Johnson.
A jovial Booi addressed reporters outside the court: “Well, I’m relieved because I’ve maintained my innocence throughout. But I also want to thank my 84-year-old mother, my family, my partner, who have supported me, and also my friends who have been there from day 1, who believed in my innocence.”
Booi said he can’t wait to go home to the Eastern Cape and continue with his farming life.
