Water tankers have been dispatched to areas severely affected by Rand Water’s ongoing maintenance programme in Gauteng.
The utility began its scheduled infrastructure work across several municipalities last week, with operations expected to continue through to July.
The maintenance is impacting supply across the province, leaving many communities with low water pressure or dry taps.

Rand Water said areas supplied by the Zuikerbosch and Zwartkopjes pump stations in Ekurhuleni are among the hardest hit, with some residents expected to be without running water for more than two days.
Spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said the maintenance process was progressing well, and a staggered return of supply was expected in some parts of the province.
“During the maintenance period, Rand Water will issue regular updates through its official communication channels and social media platforms to keep customers and residents thoroughly informed of the progress.”
