RIP: SA celebrities say their final goodbyes to actor Presley ‘Tobetsa’ Chweneyagae – PICS! The local entertainment industry turned out in numbers to bid a heartfelt farewell to award-winning actor Presley “Tobetsa” Chweneyagae.
The emotional funeral took place on Saturday, 7 June, at Akasia Community Hall in Tswane.
Family, friends, fans, politicians, and fellow actors gathered to pay their last respects to the Tsotsi star, whose sudden passing left the country in shock.

Mzansi celebrities including Warren Masemola, Thembinkosi Mthembu, Winnie Ntshaba, Rami Chuene, Oros Mampofu, and legendary actor Dr Jerry Mofokeng were in attendance.
Before the service began, Presley’s fellow actors formed a moving guard of honour as his coffin was carried into the hall, a final salute to one of Mzansi’s brightest stars.
Speaking to the publication, Dr Jerry Mofokeng paid tribute to Presley’s legacy.
“He left us too soon. Forty is still young, but in those years, Presley gave us a legacy worth 30 years. We must remember him with pride. He loved what he did, and it showed in every role he played,” he said. Actress Winnie Ntshaba, who had worked with Presley, was visibly emotional.

“Yesterday we were shooting Cobrizi, and today we are burying him. It’s hard to believe. To the family, lean on God during this time, He is the only one who can give peace, strength, and comfort. As an industry, we have lost a giant. Presley respected his craft and gave his all. Let’s continue to honour him by keeping his legacy alive,” she said.
Actor Oros Mampofu shared how difficult the past few days had been.
“It’s been a turbulent time, but today we choose to celebrate the man Presley was. He poured his heart into his work, into his family, and into his community. Let’s not forget him. Let’s honour him by being the kind of people he was dedicated, humble, and passionate,” he said.
Presley Chweneyagae will be laid to rest at Zandfontein Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
