Western Cape top cop Thembisile Patekile reflects on the life of late former AGU boss ​Andre Lincoln! The Western Cape provincial police commissioner has paid tribute to the late Major-General André Lincoln, describing him as “not a talker, but a doer.”

Commissioner Thembisile Patekile also reflected on their working relationship, saying Lincoln played a vital role in the fight against gang violence in the province.

Patekile was speaking at the former top cop’s funeral held at St George’s Cathedral in Cape Town on Saturday.

Lincoln, a former head of the Anti-Gang Unit and a former uMkhonto weSizwe operative, passed away in May at the age of 63.

He was widely respected for his decades-long contribution to policing and community safety in the Western Cape.

Patekile recalled Lincoln’s leadership and commitment.

We bid farewell and celebrate the life of Andre Lincoln, whom I’ve worked with for at least 10 years before he retired. He would be a person that, General Vearey and General Jacobs are here, we would talk and then we would come at a later stage with a very brilliant idea, but he led us deliberately.”
