ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba said the party was not yet ready to announce its mayoral candidate for Johannesburg ahead of next year’s municipal elections.
With elections expected to be held late next year, Mashaba officially launched his party’s campaign in Alexandra township on Monday.

Speculation has been rife over who will be in the running, especially after Democratic Alliance (DA) federal council chairperson Helen Zille’s interest in entering the fray.
However, Mashaba said ActionSA had not yet decided on who to put forward for the position.
“We are not yet ready to announce our mayoral candidate for the city of Johannesburg, but we can assure you that every mayoral candidate will be people we vetted and who we have confidence in their ability to deliver,” said Mashaba.
