Fires kill 7 in one day, Ekurhuleni EMS urges residents to be careful using heating devices! Ekurhuleni residents are being urged to exercise extreme caution when using heating devices this winter, following a tragic spike in fire-related deaths.
Seven people, including six children, died in separate fire incidents across the metro on Friday.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson Eric Maloka says police are investigating the causes of these devastating events.
“The first fire incident took place in Villa Lisa at around 20h40, where four children between the age of 2 and 14 tragically lost their lives when their four-room shack caught fire. In another devastating fire incident reported at around just before 22h50, two children aged 10 and 2 lost their lives when their four-room house caught fire. In both cases, the children were left alone without any adult presence.”
