Mpumalanga government urges motorists to be vigilant during school holidays! As holidaymakers continue to hit the roads for the winter school holidays, Mpumalanga’s provincial government is urging motorists to remain vigilant and drive responsibly.
This follows a fatal head-on collision on Friday along the R23, between Greylingstad and Val, that claimed six lives.

Preliminary reports indicate that excessive speeding and dangerous overtaking may have led to the crash.
Community safety department spokesperson Moeti Mmusi is calling on all road users to follow traffic laws and help prevent further loss of life.
“Every driver has a responsibility to comply with the rules. Reckless driver behaviour, excessive speeding, and dangerous overtaking remain a leading cause of deadly crashes especially at night. It is therefore incumbent upon every driver to be extremely vigilant when they take to the road.”
