Tshwane investigates R7 million transformer theft case allegedly involving municipal workers! The Department of Community Safety in Tshwane has announced that it will launch its own investigation into the theft of a transformer worth R7 million, allegedly stolen by three municipal workers.
The internal probe will run alongside the ongoing court case to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.

Court Appearance and Charges
The three suspects, all employees of the City of Tshwane and aged between 40 and 50, appeared in the Atteridgeville Magistrates Court on Wednesday. They are facing charges related to the theft of essential infrastructure.
While their court case resumes on Friday, police have confirmed that one more suspect is still being sought.
The case initially involved 11 suspects, most of whom were contractors. Charges were later withdrawn against 10 individuals, with only one city-employed suspect still behind bars.
City Vows Accountability
Tshwane’s MMC for Community Safety, Hannes Coetzee, stated that the city is committed to ensuring accountability.
“We will follow up on what happened at the site and ensure consequence management is implemented,” said Coetzee.
“We are working to ensure all our statements are fact-based.”
Coetzee emphasized that consequence management remains a priority in tackling corruption and misconduct within city departments.
