Court hears closing arguments in bail application of 12 murder-accused SANDF members! The Randburg Magistrates Court is currently hearing closing arguments in the bail application of 12 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members accused of murder, kidnapping, and fraud.
A dozen soldiers in the special forces were arrested almost two weeks ago to account for their alleged involvement in the murder of Hawks investigator Frans Mathipa.
Court hears closing arguments
Mathipa was assassinated in 2023 while probing an abduction of two foreign nationals at the Mall of Africa in Midrand.
His investigation pointed to the involvement of the army’s Special Forces Unit.
But they deny any involvement in the kidnappings and the three murders that followed.
The State is opposing bail.
