Tebogo Thobejane launches foundation to fight GBV and cyberbullying! Actress and businesswoman Tebogo Thobejane has emerged from a traumatic period of her life with a powerful new mission: to combat digital abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) through her newly launched Botlhale Foundation.
After surviving a life-threatening shooting, ongoing cyberbullying, and public defamation, Thobejane is determined to use her experiences to empower and protect others.
Tebogo Thobejane launches foundation
“I am a survivor,” she said, recounting the ordeal. “I’ve been mocked, humiliated, and threatened — not just as a public figure, but as a woman, mother, and human being.”
Introducing the Botlhale Foundation
Named after the Setswana word for wisdom, the Botlhale Foundation is more than just an organisation — it’s a national movement for justice and support. Thobejane says the foundation will create safe spaces for victims of online bullying, GBV, and societal shame.
The initiative is geared toward:
Promoting digital accountability
Advocating for policy change
Offering mental health resources
Supporting survivors of abuse and online harassment
The foundation also aims to drive change through education and storytelling, ensuring the stories of victims are heard and their pain transformed into purpose.
A Call for National Support
“My story is not unique, and that is the tragedy,” Thobejane stated. “Many women suffer in silence. I no longer will.”
She urged South Africans — including civil society, lawmakers, and corporate partners — to join her in creating a safer, more compassionate country.
“This is more than a foundation. It is a voice for the unheard, a shield for the vulnerable, and a call to action for a country that must do better.”
