Pretoria hospitals divert emergency cases as disruptions of water supply continue

Pretoria hospitals divert emergency cases as disruptions of water supply continue! Emergency service cases have been diverted from some hospitals in Pretoria North due to the disruption of water supply.

The Gauteng Health Department said the affected hospitals are George Mukhari Academic Hospital and the Jubilee Hospital.

The City of Tshwane is currently conducting repair work at the Hartbeeshoek Reservoir, which directly supplies the health facilities.

Maintenance work began on 3 July and is set to be completed on 18 July.

Provincial Health Department spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said “As you know, in our facilities, water is one of the critical resources that we depend on to sustain healthcare services and to maintain proper hygiene to our facilities. Fortunately, most of our facilities they have water storage capacities that are able to take anything between two to four days and they are equipped with jojo tanks with hospitals having boreholes.”
