Family Criticizes Lack of Remorse

Pretty Mahlangu’s family expressed frustration after Van der Walt’s release, stating they felt she showed no remorse as she had yet to apologise for the incident.

However, her attorney, Kineil Muthray, explained that he had advised his client not to contact the family immediately, believing it would worsen their grief.

I advised that it’s an open wound. It’s really difficult and not going to be received well if she reaches out at this stage,” Muthray said.

Plans for Support and Future Apology

Muthray added that Van der Walt remains willing to apologise and even provide financial assistance to the Mahlangu family. He said attempts were made through the investigating officer to facilitate contact, but the timing was deemed too sensitive.

The case remains under investigation as the family awaits justice for Pretty Mahlangu.
