While Mandela Day may have passed, the Castle of Good Hope will be dedicating the whole month of July to charitable acts.
The Castle which housed the Apartheid army and hosted the Union army has opened its doors to the public for other reasons.

It plans to host NGO’s and activists who work in gang ridden areas and offer tools to deal with stress and anxiety.
CEO of the Castle Control Board, Calvyn Gilfellan said the image of the Castle needs to change from colonialism to giving back to the community.
“We were in fact dedicated this whole month towards doing good, people to work together to create an atmosphere of hope, of opportunities for people because we don’t want to stick to one day we want to say we want the entire July month to be dedicated to the legacy of this great statesman and leader,” said Gilfellan.
