Flood-damaged KZN SAPS vehicle impound building to be revamped! The public works and infrastructure department has committed to fully revamping the KwaZulu-Natal South African Police Service (SAPS) vehicle impound building before the end of 2025.
On Friday, the department’s director general visited the building, which was hit by the 2022 floods.

The department has already begun work on the building, with renovations currently taking place.
KZN police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says he is looking forward to seeing the restoration of the building.
“On behalf of the South African Police Service in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, we must extend our appreciation to the DG and the public works at large for having come through with the commitment they made.” said Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi made his first public appearance since the explosive allegations he made—implicating Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and his colleague Shadrack Sibiya—while participating in Mandela Day activities.
“It is a special day, and it tells me that I must also take my team and go out on the street and do similar activities. I was able to hold a brush today and do some painting, at least for a change—a brush is better than a gun, isn’t it?” said Mkhwanazi.
