Two injured during protest over water in eMalahleni! A protest over water turned violent, and two people were injured earlier this evening.

A woman was hit by a car as the driver of the car, blinded by smoke from burning tyres ran the woman over as she tried to make her way across the road.

On impact, she was engulfed in flames and thrown up in the air.

She was taken to Witbank Hospital for burn wounds across her body.

The driver of a truck was assaulted and had to receive medical attention.

The man who assaulted him said he bumped his vehicle during the chaos.

The crowd was dispersed when police arrived.

The road was cleared of the burning tyres and debris, and police guided the traffic through.
