The vehicles will reportedly help children with severe intellectual disabilities access affordable, quality basic education.

The project, carried out in partnership with the Western Cape Department of Mobility, includes transport subsidies, funding for carers, and the appointment of a programme implementer to support the children’s educational needs.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Maitland last week, MEC Jaco Londt said the initiative is a move toward a more inclusive society.
“These vehicles are more than just a means of transport; they are a lifeline for children with special needs. By equipping our dedicated NGOs with the right tools, we are helping to break down the barriers that have kept too many children from accessing quality basic education.”
