Learners at Glenvista Primary School in Johannesburg will now experience learning through digital technology following the handover of smart tablets to the school.

On Thursday, Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube, together with Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi, visited the quintile 5 school to hand over the smart learning tablets.

The donation, made possible through private sector partnerships, forms part of a broader effort by government to drive digital inclusion in schools.

Addressing learners and staff, Gwarube emphasised the role technology plays in improving education outcomes and transforming how children learn.

In her address, Gwarube emphasised the importance of the future of basic education lying in the ability to prepare children for a world that is changing by bridging the resource gap and fast-tracking digital transformation in schools.

The handover event included a demonstration of the tablets by learners, who showcased their ability to navigate educational apps and use the devices.
