Repairs to the road are almost complete, with the metro confirming that 86% of the work has been done.

A portion of the bustling street was damaged by a massive underground explosion two years ago.
Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) CEO Zweli Nyathi said the ventilation systems that were being installed would protect the street against any future gas-related incidents.
“Despite adverse weather conditions earlier in the year, the contractor at the Lilian Ngoyi site has demonstrated exceptional performance, maintaining project timelines through a revised and accelerated exception programme.”
