DJ Tira faces backlash over comments about Mampintsha’s family! Afrotainment boss Mthokozisi “DJ Tira” Khathi is under fire once again—this time for a video that has angered the family of late Big Nuz member, Mampintsha.
In the clip, posted on his exclusive content platform DJ Tira’s World, the producer recalled seeing Mampintsha’s father selling CDs of his late son’s music on the street.
“We saw Mampintsha’s father selling CDs of one of Mampintsha’s albums on the street and we thought, ‘Eish, we were touched to go into our pockets and help,’” DJ Tira said.
The comment has been widely condemned as insensitive and disrespectful, particularly by those close to the late artist.
DJ Tira faces backlash
Family Sees It as Disrespect
A source close to the family told TshisaLIVE that DJ Tira’s words were a betrayal to someone who helped build his brand.
“Mampintsha made him millions. Is this the thanks his family gets?” said the source.
“He needs to refrain from using Mampintsha’s name—he’s chasing clout at the grave’s expense.”
Babes Wodumo Reportedly Hurt
While Babes Wodumo, Mampintsha’s widow, has not publicly addressed the controversy, sources say she is deeply hurt by DJ Tira’s ongoing references to her late husband. Tensions between the families and DJ Tira are not new.
Earlier this year, Babes posted on her timeline, urging DJ Tira to involve her in any tributes or events held in Mampintsha’s name, stating that as his widow, she deserved that respect.
No Response Yet from DJ Tira
DJ Tira has not yet responded to the latest backlash. Reports indicate he is currently out of the country and unavailable for comment.
The incident has reignited debates about respecting the legacy of late artists and whether industry peers are honouring or exploiting their memories for attention and gain.
