A year after the murder of five-year-old Xavier Mitchell in Bishop Lavis, his family is still seeking justice.
The boy was stabbed to death on 7 August 2024 while in the care of his nanny.

Shortly after the murder, police arrested a man believed to be a relative of the nanny but the case against Mervyn White has been dragging at the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court.
A memorial march will be held in the community on Saturday afternoon to highlight the lack of progress in the case.
The Bishop Lavis crime prevention forum’s Graham Lindhorst said the little boy’s family feels let down by the justice system.
“We cannot forget. A year passed and the alleged perpetrator has still not appeared befor a judge to tell Xavier’s mother, father and the community what he did to Xavier and why he did it.”
