Lwandle library left flooded after break-in! A library in Lwandle, Cape Town, has been left flooded as a result of a break-in.
When staff arrived for work on Monday morning, they found the place flooded after criminals had damaged the water pipes.
It’s reported that they entered through the roof, bypassing alarms and along with the water pipes, they damaged electrical wires.

The break-in has set back future plans for the library as R12 million was set aside for upgrades to the property.
MMC for Community Services and Health, Francine Higham, said that library users would need to travel to Strand, Gordon’s Bay or Somerset West library while repairs were underway.
“This incident is incredibly disappointing, especially considering the exciting developments in the pipeline for this library. Apart from the cost to repair the damage to the library, the biggest cost is to the community, who now have to travel much further to access our services, all because of the actions of a few individuals.”
