Five men accused of the brutal killings have also been linked to another murder case that occurred weeks before the 18 victims were killed at Ngobozana Village.
Firearms found in Flagstaff
The ballistic expert, who probed the firearms recovered in October, is also a senior police officer with the rank of colonel.
He told the court that some of his skills and training in this field were acquired internationally in countries such as Germany and the United States (US), where he learnt some things from the FBI.
He was specifically tasked with the ballistic investigation into the Lusikisiki massacre.
His investigations have revealed that three of the four firearms found by police in Flagstaff were indeed used in the commission of the murders – first, in KwaBhaca, where a politician and businessman was shot and killed at his home.
He also testified that the same firearms were also used in both scenes in Lusikisiki.
Thirteen victims were killed in scene one, while four other victims were killed in scene two in Ngobozana Village.
