His family has appealed for help to give him a dignified funeral.
Mvelase’s family in Nhlungwane, outside Ulundi, said that they were still shocked by his death because he was trying to provide for himself and his loved ones.
His mother was hospitalised, as she battles with the pain of losing her only son.
On Monday, officials from the provincial social development department visited the grieving family, where MEC Mbali Shinga said the death had left community members with questions.
“Mthokozisi is known as a young man of peace and was respectful in the community, so they are just wondering what caused this whole thing.”
Shinga said her department would reach out to other partners to help with funeral arrangements.
