The City of Cape Town has invited the public to comment on its plans to build a desalination plant in Paarden Eiland.

Badroodien said all residents and stakeholders were invited to comment on the study for the city’s first desalination plant.

“Our city is committed to securing our water future and that commitment means that by 2032, we must be producing 300 million litres of new water from new water sources.”

Badroodien said the city’s new water programme would ensure that about 11% of Cape Town’s water supply will be sourced from the ocean.
