Deputy President David Mabuza says issues raised by disgruntled military veterans are being attended to.

This follows dramatic events in which Defence Minister, Thandi Modise, her deputy Thabang Makwetla, and Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, were held hostage for hours on Thursday evening.

Members of the Liberation Struggle War Veterans took the three hostages after talks about their demands for compensation collapsed. Mabuza has sounded a warning to the veterans, that officials must not be stretched too far.

He said, “like the ministers have said we’ve established a task team, established by the president. We are in the process of addressing all the issues and we are talking to registered associations.

So there are people coming out of these associations, we attend to them but they should not stretch us too far.
