The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng has called for the resignation of Rand Water CEO Sipho Mosai, saying it is concerned about transparency and the lack of accountability.

This after the DA conducted an unannounced visit to the water utility’s headquarters as thousands of residents in Gauteng have been without water for more than a month.

The DA’s candidate for premier in the province, Solly Msimanga says municipalities are struggling to plan adequately and ensure water delivery to their residents. Msimanga has accused Rand Water of being unable to communicate effectively.

“We have been asking for answers and we are not being provided with answers but in fact we keep getting the blame game that continues to play itself out between municipalities and Rand Water,” says Msimanga.
