Another top Transnet executive has resigned from the Board. Popo Molefe has stepped down as non-executive director of the beleaguered state-owned entity.
His resignation comes just weeks after Group CEO Portia Derby and Freight Rail boss Siza Mzimela quit. Molefe was Transnet’s chairperson from 2018 until July this year.
Public Enterprises has thanked him for his contribution. The troubled parastatal has faced criticism over operational and financial performance. The company reported over a-billion rand loss in the 2022/23 financial year.
