Grade 12 learners writing the final exams administered by the Independent Examination Board (IEB) believe they will perform well in this year’s matric exams. Close to 14 000 full-time learners are writing the IEB exams. IEB achieved above 98% pass rate last year. Some of the grade 12 learners at Jabez Christian Academy in Polokwane are confident they will do well in their exams.
“I’ve very elated, it’s the last year in school I am so happy that I reached this stage and I have prepared adequately. You know I have used this YouTuber’s account named teachers he has taken me through the steps. I just hope that I can get a distinction. Honestly I am excited, I have waited for this day for a long time, I have been anticipating this day I am ready you know, confident as I can be.”
Meanwhile, public schools are also gearing themselves for the National Senior Certificate exams. Basic Education Department’s spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga says they have been preparing learners for the exams throughout the year.
“We have been preparing them for some time in terms of curriculum coverage, teaching and learning, revision, enrichment camps and we did all that we could to support our candidates. The system itself has been ready for some time, a huge focus off course is on the security of our question papers which is very sensitive at this time because we don’t want anyone accessing it before time.
