Their fans can barely keep up with the on-and-off relationship. Last week, DJing couple Themba “Maphorisa” Sekowe and his girlfriend Thulisile “Thuli” Phongolo were happy in love and shared a video at Maphorisa’s Sky High Sandton penthouse. This week, she confirmed they have yet again separated.
Thuli said she and the Manzi Nte DJ were no longer together. “When you’re single and everyone thinks you’re still dating your ex. I hate that mess; count me out!” Thuli said. A close friend said the two are: “On and off, but mostly on. They will never separate. It’s just those types of relationships,” the friend told ZiMoja.
“You know, a bit toxic, but you somehow can’t stay away from each other. Both are jealous when the other gets attention,” the friend said. Last year, Thuli opened a case of domestic abuse at the Sandton Police Station against Maphorisa. She told the police that Maphorisa assaulted her following an argument at an event the previous night.
She alleged that he became aggressive and slapped her in the face, dragged her by her neck to the balcony, and continued hitting her with his elbow while wrestling for her phone, which he had taken. She sustained bruises on her neck, chest, arms, and right cheek. Maphorisa was arrested and granted R4 000 bail.
