Nomcebo Zikode has spoken out following her recent loss in court against Open Mic Productions.

In a statement released through her label, Emazulwini Productions, the Grammy Award-winning artist expressed deep disappointment over the High Court ruling, which she described as fundamentally flawed and troubling.

At the heart of the legal dispute is the global hit Jerusalema, a song that became a cultural phenomenon and brought South African music to the global stage.

Despite her powerful vocal performance and pivotal role in its success, Nomcebo claims she has not received a single cent in recording royalties from Open Mic Productions.

She also accuses the label of failing to account for revenues generated by the song and other works released under their banner.

The singer says this case is about more than just money; it’s about the right of artists to be respected, fairly compensated, and properly credited for their contributions.

She believes her situation reflects a broader issue in the African music industry, where many artists are locked into unfair deals and denied their rightful earnings.

While her legal team considers an appeal, Nomcebo remains determined to fight for what she believes is right.

“Nomcebo’s legal team is currently studying the full judgment, and an appeal is being actively considered. While we respect the role of the Court, we cannot ignore the bigger picture: this case represents more than a contractual disagreement – it is about the rights of an artist to be acknowledged, compensated, and respected for their work.”

She thanked her fans and supporters for standing by her and emphasized that this battle is far from over.

“Justice delayed is not justice denied. The fight continues, and I will not be silenced,” she declared.
