Somizi Mhlongo’s company, Search Light Pty Ltd, co-directed with Lindo Maleho, is reportedly facing legal action after failing to pay employee wages.
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) has allegedly authorized the seizure of the company’s movable assets to recover outstanding salaries totaling R165,402.62.

According to MDN News, the affected employees had been placed at Transnet’s Carlton Centre offices before being abruptly dismissed in April 2025, without any formal warnings or disciplinary hearings.

“We received no warning or hearing; we were simply let go,” said one former employee. The CCMA’s enforcement ruling, issued on 23 June 2025, covers unpaid wages for April, May, and June, including applicable interest.
The ruling has been welcomed by the Hetelicca Trade Union, with representative Thabiso Putswe confirming that a separate case for unfair dismissal is still pending before the commission.
As of now, Somizi has not publicly responded to the allegations or court ruling. The news has raised concerns about the treatment of workers within celebrity-owned businesses and the importance of fair labour practices.
