MK Party hands over memorandum to SAPS, wants Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi protected! The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has handed over a memorandum to the South African Police Service (SAPS), calling for the protection of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
The party marched through the capital city, protesting the alleged political interference in law enforcement agencies.
Earlier in July, Mkhwanazi made explosive allegations of corruption involving politicians, prosecutors, and members of the judiciary.
MK Party hands over memorandum
The MK Party made a detour during its march to the Union Buildings, pausing at the South African Police Service headquarters in the CBD.
While they had hoped to personally deliver a list of demands to National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola, a representative from his office came out to receive it instead.
MK Party national organiser, Joe Ndlela, then read out their demands.
“We demand the immediate resignation of President Cyril Ramaphosa, the immediate arresting of those implicated by KZN police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the immediate dismissal of Senzo Mchunu. This government is given 14 days to respond.”
A separate set of demands were set to be presented to the Presidency at the Union Buildings.
