Rand Water has urged residents to be patient while the water supply slowly returns to normal now that the maintenance has been completed.
Rand Water undertook critical repair work from 29 May to 18 July, affecting water supply in Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni at different times.
The project is aimed at enhancing system capacity and improving water availability and reliability.
Rand Water urges residents
The maintenance work entails a newly laid pipeline known as B16, which supplies water from the new station at the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant.
In addition, Rand Water installed a meter at the Russell Road Reservoir in Germiston, and cleaning was also conducted on the Sasolburg Reservoir.
The work further entailed the repair of leaking pipelines and the replacement of valves at the Zwartkoppies Pumping Station.
The water utility said that the distribution network will need time to fully recover, especially in high-lying areas, which may still be seeing a low water supply.
