NPA to oppose any bail applications from murder-accused Katiso Molefe! The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said it would oppose any appeal or new application for bail by murder-accused Sandton businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe.
Molefe was denied bail by the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The court found that he failed to prove exceptional circumstances to warrant his release.
Bail applications
Molefe was arrested in July in connection with the murder of DJ Sumbody, whose real name was Oupa Sefoka.
He was later also charged with the murder of Hector Buthelezi, who was known as DJ Vintos.
It’s not the first time that a magistrate’s court has denied bail for Molefe.
Earlier this year, his bid for bail failed in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court, where he appeared for being the alleged mastermind behind the hit on engineer, Armand Swart.
But he brought another application before the Pretoria High Court and that was granted.
Now, the NPA says it is ready to oppose any more quests for bail by Molefe.
“We will continue opposing his release on bail because there was no exceptional circumstances that were presented before court as required by the bail system, and therefore it is only in the interests of justice that he be kept in custody until he is dealt with in accordance with the law,” the NPA’s Phindi Mjonondwane said.
Molefe will return to the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in September.
