Amapiano hitmaker Zee Nxumalo has sparked lively debate online after sharing an unapologetically extravagant birthday wish list that quickly captured the attention of social media users.
The Mama singer took to Facebook ahead of her birthday on Tuesday, 6 January, making it clear that simple gifts would not cut it this year. In a bold and humorous post, Nxumalo announced that she was officially done with receiving perfumes and would much rather be spoiled with luxury designer items, tech gadgets or even cold, hard cash.

Her post didn’t take long to migrate to X, where it gained traction and ignited widespread discussion, with users weighing in on everything from celebrity expectations to gender dynamics and success at a young age.
In the post, Nxumalo left no room for subtlety, declaring luxury as the theme of her birthday.
“My birthday is in two days. [My] wishlist is a Dior bag/Dior sandals, or any Dior item. Buy me shares at JSE. A 40-inch wig (premium quality), maybe iPhone 17 Pro Max. I have enough perfume, I do not need them,” she wrote.
The wish list continued to grow, with the singer also requesting Burberry swimwear and a Mahele for her bus. She then raised eyebrows further by hinting at even bigger gifts, adding: “Pay registration for one of my fans. A 45 AMG Sport [car]. 300K hard-core cash. Or just buy me a Zee Nxumalo 2 Piece from The Fix. I don’t have it. It’s always sold out.”

As expected, the post drew mixed reactions. Some fans applauded her confidence, ambition and sense of humour, interpreting the list as playful and aspirational rather than literal demands. Others, however, were far less impressed, with several critics — particularly male users — accusing the young star of having unrealistic expectations.
One detractor commented, “She thinks she is Beyoncé, this one. She is just a good singer. Just beauty without depth!” Another questioned her financial independence, asking, “Doesn’t she get royalties and booking fees?”
Despite the criticism, many supporters appeared unbothered by the extravagance. Some brushed off the backlash, suggesting that the list was simply part of her bold personality. One fan confidently reacted, “And she will get everything ke sana,” implying that the singer’s success makes her wishes entirely attainable.
At just 23 years old, Zee Nxumalo has plenty to celebrate. The rising Amapiano star has enjoyed a remarkable run in the Mzansi music scene, steadily building a strong fan base and dominating charts with hits such as Ngisakuthanda. Her youthful confidence and playful online presence have become part of her brand, keeping her consistently in the public conversation.
Her success was further cemented in December 2025 when she was named the most-streamed artist in South Africa, surpassing an impressive 100 million streams. The milestone placed her ahead of many established acts and confirmed her status as one of the country’s most successful young musicians.
Whether her birthday wish list was tongue-in-cheek or entirely serious, one thing is clear: Zee Nxumalo knows how to command attention. As she marks another year around the sun, the singer continues to prove that she is not only dominating playlists, but also setting the tone for boldness, confidence and conversation in South African pop culture.
