Man who allegedly orchestrated killing of DA councillor to appear in court! A 26-year-old male who allegedly orchestrated the killing of a Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor whilst in prison is due to appear in court on Thursday.
The DA’s chief whip in uMngeni Local Municipality, Nhlalayenza Ndlovu, was shot dead in front of his family on 5 December 2023.

On Wednesday, the South African Police Service (SAPS) political killings task team arrested a 26-year-old suspect and a 56-year-old traditional leader in connection with the murder.
The latest arrest means a total of four people now stand accused of the councillor’s murder.
The DA’s KwaZulu-Natal leader, Francois Rodgers, said the party will be attending Thursday’s court hearing.
“We trust that the prosecuting authority now has its ducks in a row so that we can get to some conclusion and there can be accountability and consequence in what was a senseless and brutal murder of a public representative in front of his wife and small children.”
