American R&B star Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court following a serious assault charge linked to an alleged nightclub incident in 2023.
The 36-year-old artist secured his release after agreeing to a hefty £5 million (approximately R120.9 million) bail condition, a move that clears the path for the start of his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour in June.

Brown faces a charge of grievous bodily harm after prosecutors accused him of launching an “unprovoked attack” on music producer Abraham Diaw, reportedly striking him with a tequila bottle at a nightclub in London.
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, the singer has not yet entered a plea.
He was not present at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday when Judge Tony Baumgartner granted the bail application.
This decision comes days after Brown was initially denied bail following his arrest at a hotel in Manchester, having returned to the UK for the first time since the incident.
As part of his bail conditions, Brown is required to pay £4 million upfront, with the remaining £1 million due within a week.
In addition, he must surrender his passport, though exceptions will be made to allow travel for his upcoming tour, which begins on June 8 in the Netherlands.
Brown, best known for chart-toppers like Run It, Loyal, and Under the Influence, is expected to appear again at Southwark Crown Court on June 20 as the case progresses.
