Siv Ngesi defends period poverty initiative! South African actor and TV personality Siv Ngesi is standing his ground after facing criticism for his efforts to combat period poverty.
Ngesi recently addressed online backlash regarding his plan to launch a locally made, affordable sanitary product line, emphasizing that his mission is rooted in social impact rather than profit.
Siv Ngesi defends
Ngesi first announced the project in August 2024, sharing his vision to help schoolgirls who cannot afford sanitary pads. Many of these girls are forced to miss school or endure humiliation during their menstrual cycles due to lack of access to basic products.
A Vision Beyond Business
Sharing his excitement on social media, Ngesi revealed, “I have always wanted my own range of affordable, high-quality, and locally made sanitary pads.
Today, we spent over 8 hours testing sanitary pads from all over the world here in China! A factory is coming soon to South Africa!”
Despite critics questioning why a man is spearheading a women-focused cause, Ngesi has made it clear that his only goal is to bring dignity to those in need.
Turning Backlash into Motivation
Rather than backing down, Ngesi has used the negativity as motivation, continuing to push for real change and proving he’s willing to champion causes others often overlook.
