South Africa’s second-oldest Spur branch to close for good! A well-known branch of the popular Spur restaurant in Cape Town will be closing for good, later in August.
Seven Spur in Sea Point is the second-oldest branch in the country.
It was opened in 1968 after the first branch opened in Newlands the previous year.

The restaurant was initially located at the corner of Main and Conifer Roads in Sea Point, and after moving twice, it settled in Arthurs Road in 2006.
There are currently 29 Spur branches in Cape Town and 307 branches in the country.
Chief marketing officer for the corporation, Vuyo Henda, said they were committed to finding a new site in the Sea Point area.
“The closure of Seven Spur follows the landlord’s decision to renovate and redevelop the property, which resulted in the non-renewal of our lease. This does happen occasionally during significant landlord property upgrades or relocations.”
