Amapiano vocalist Boohle found herself at the centre of social media controversy after alleged WhatsApp conversations involving her manager and an event promoter went viral online.
The leaked screenshots, which quickly spread across X, sparked heated discussions among fans and industry followers about professionalism, artist management and communication within the entertainment business.

According to the circulating messages, the promoter was attempting to book Boohle for a performance in Muldersdrift scheduled for September 2026. What began as a routine enquiry reportedly became tense after the promoter allegedly struggled to receive clear and timely responses regarding the booking.
The situation appeared to escalate once payment negotiations entered the conversation. In the screenshots, the promoter allegedly questioned why the booking fee had increased from an earlier quoted amount of R30,000 to R80,000. The exchange soon became increasingly confrontational, with the manager — identified in the chats as Rock — allegedly responding with sarcastic and dismissive remarks.
As frustration grew, the promoter eventually appeared to withdraw interest in the booking altogether.
The viral exchange quickly drew strong reactions online, with many social media users criticising the alleged communication style used during the negotiations. Several commenters argued that professionalism and respectful engagement are essential in maintaining strong relationships between artists, promoters and event organisers.

Others expressed concern that incidents like this could potentially affect an artist’s public image and future opportunities if not handled carefully. Some users also pointed out that management teams often play a crucial role in shaping how artists are perceived within the industry, making effective communication especially important.
The debate also extended beyond the leaked chats themselves, with some online users questioning whether Boohle’s management structure was fully focused on advancing her music career. Discussions emerged around whether balancing artist management with personal DJ commitments could impact responsiveness and business operations.
Despite the controversy, Boohle remains one of amapiano’s most recognised vocalists, known for her powerful voice and collaborations on several chart-topping hits. Over the years, she has built a strong fanbase through her contributions to the genre and continues to be regarded as one of the standout female voices in South African music.

At the time of the online discussions, neither Boohle nor her management team had publicly addressed the authenticity of the screenshots or the criticism surrounding the alleged conversation.
The incident has since continued to fuel conversations online about artist booking culture, pricing transparency and the importance of professionalism in South Africa’s entertainment industry.
