Former Generations star Thabiso Mokhethi has revealed the personal and financial hardships he endured after leaving the popular TV show, where he played the role of Samuel.
From Fame to Financial Strain
During his time on Generations, Thabiso lived a luxurious lifestyle. He earned well, owned expensive cars, and enjoyed the perks of stardom. However, things took a sharp turn after his departure from the show. The income stopped, but the responsibilities and lifestyle expectations didn’t.

In a recent interview, Thabiso opened up about hitting rock bottom.
“I had tied my worth to material things and financial success,” he said. “Once that was taken away, I didn’t know who I was.”
Losing It All
He spoke candidly about selling all his assets, including his luxury cars, and reaching a point where he struggled to afford basic needs.
“There were times when I couldn’t even afford an Uber or food. Coming from a position where I could provide for my family and suddenly relying on others was a bitter pill to swallow.”
A Shared Struggle in the Industry
Thabiso is not alone. Other South African stars like Dr Malinga and veteran actress Nandi Nyembe have also opened up about their financial battles. In some cases, fellow celebrities stepped in to offer support.
Finding His Way Back
Despite the difficulties, Thabiso remains hopeful and determined. His journey is one of rediscovery and rebuilding.
“This is my story, and I know it’s one that many can relate to,” he added.
Thabiso’s honesty is a reminder that behind the fame, real people face real struggles—but resilience can lead the way back.
