Award-winning South African rapper Emtee has been released on bail following his recent appearance in court, according to a statement issued by his management team.
The rapper, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, appeared before the Midrand Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail of R1,000. His management confirmed the development while emphasizing that they would not be commenting on the allegations currently before the courts.

In a statement released on behalf of the artist, management said they respect the legal process and believe it is important for due process to take its course without public interference.
“Following recent media reports regarding the legal matter involving Emtee, we wish to confirm that he has been released on bail. We believe it is important to allow due process to unfold and will therefore refrain from commenting on the allegations themselves,” the statement read.
The team further noted that despite the challenges surrounding the case, Emtee remains focused on his personal development, his supporters, and his music career. They also thanked fans, industry peers, and members of the public for their continued support and understanding during a difficult period.
Alleged Protection Order Violation
The court appearance follows allegations that Emtee violated a protection order that was reportedly obtained by his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, in 2023.
Reports indicate that the rapper spent a night in custody at Midrand Police Station before his court appearance. The allegations stem from an incident that allegedly took place at Chinsamy’s residence in Midrand, where Emtee is accused of entering the property and allegedly grabbing a knife during a confrontation while she was caring for one of their children.
The matter remains before the courts, and no findings have been made regarding the allegations.

Social Media Claims Spark Debate
The legal developments come shortly after Emtee shared a series of emotional social media posts in which he accused Chinsamy of physically abusing him over several years.
In the posts, the rapper claimed he had suffered repeated assaults during their relationship and said he had been left with emotional and physical scars. He also alleged that many people had dismissed his experiences because of stereotypes surrounding male victims of abuse.
“Nicole Kendall Chinsamy has assaulted me several times. I know many people will mock me and call me names for speaking out, but I’m leaving it in God’s hands,” he wrote.
Emtee went on to claim that he feared for his safety and felt isolated while dealing with the situation. He stressed that he was not seeking financial assistance but wanted people to understand the difficulties he had allegedly faced.
His statements generated widespread discussion online, with some supporters expressing sympathy and concern for his wellbeing, while others urged the public not to rush to judgment and to wait for all facts to emerge.
A Long History of Public Accusations
The relationship between Emtee and Chinsamy has been marked by public disputes for several years, with both parties making serious allegations against one another.
Their highly publicized fallout first gained significant attention in 2020 when Emtee accused his then-wife of physical abuse and claimed that some members of her family had threatened him. At the time, he shared details of the alleged incidents on social media, sparking widespread debate among fans and the entertainment industry.
Chinsamy strongly denied the allegations and issued a public response, describing the claims as false and accusing the rapper of attempting to damage her reputation and that of her family.
She stated that she would no longer remain silent while being accused publicly and maintained that the truth behind their personal disputes would eventually come to light.
Since then, both sides have continued to make allegations against each other, often through social media platforms and public statements.
Previous Abuse Allegations
In March 2023, Chinsamy reportedly opened an assault case against Emtee following allegations linked to a domestic dispute. The charges were later withdrawn after she stated that she had chosen to forgive him and focus on moving forward for the benefit of their children.
The withdrawal of the case did not bring an end to the public tensions between the former couple. Instead, their disagreements have continued to play out in the public eye, attracting attention from fans, media outlets, and social commentators.
More recently, Emtee posted a lengthy statement in which he detailed what he described as years of emotional and physical abuse. The rapper alleged that he had been assaulted on numerous occasions and carried lasting scars from the relationship.
He further claimed that some of his personal struggles, including health challenges, had been met with a lack of compassion. In one post, he alleged that photographs had been taken of him during medical episodes and shared without his consent.
The musician also made additional accusations regarding the breakdown of their relationship, claims that have not been independently verified.
Fans React to Ongoing Drama
The latest developments have once again placed the former couple’s turbulent relationship under public scrutiny. Social media users have expressed a wide range of opinions, with some calling for support for both parties, while others have emphasized the importance of allowing the legal process to run its course.
Many observers have highlighted the complexities of domestic disputes, noting that allegations made by either side should be treated seriously and investigated through the appropriate legal channels.
As the case proceeds, both Emtee and Chinsamy remain at the centre of a story that has unfolded publicly for several years. For now, attention will remain focused on the legal process and any future developments that emerge from the matter.
With court proceedings ongoing, neither side has provided further detailed comment beyond their public statements, leaving many questions unanswered as the situation continues to develop.
