South African hip hop fans have something exciting to look forward to, as award-winning rapper K.O has revealed plans for what could become one of the country’s biggest rap events of the year.
During a recent interview on YFM’s The Agenda with DJ Sliqe and Roiii, the veteran artist shared that he is preparing a large-scale live event scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of the year. Although he remained tight-lipped about the finer details, he assured fans that an official announcement will be made in the coming weeks.

“More business, more growth. Right now I’m busy putting together a huge show that’s planned to happen, scheduled to happen in the fourth quarter this year,” K.O said.
He added that the event is already in motion and encouraged supporters to stay tuned for the official reveal.
“The announcement is coming out in the next couple of weeks. Be on the lookout for it. Big, big, big. You feel me? Believe that.”
The announcement has sparked excitement among local music lovers, many of whom are eager to see what the rapper has planned. While K.O has not confirmed the venue, lineup or ticket details, his reputation for delivering high-quality performances has already fueled speculation that the event could feature some of South Africa’s biggest hip hop stars and special guest appearances.
For more than two decades, K.O, whose real name is Ntokozo Mdluli, has remained one of the defining figures in South African hip hop. He first rose to prominence as a member of the acclaimed rap trio Teargas alongside Ma-E and Ntukza. The group became known for producing socially conscious music while helping shape the sound of local hip hop during the 2000s.

After launching his solo career, K.O introduced the Skhanda movement, a distinctive style that blended hip hop with elements of kwaito, creating a uniquely South African sound that resonated with audiences across the country. His debut solo single, Caracara, released in 2014, became a cultural phenomenon and remains one of the most successful South African hip hop songs of all time. The hit not only dominated local music charts but also inspired a dance craze and earned widespread acclaim for redefining the direction of the genre.
Since then, K.O has continued to build an impressive catalogue with projects including Skhanda Republic, Skhanda Republic 2, PTY UnLTD, SR3 and Phara City. Throughout his career, he has consistently evolved while maintaining his signature lyrical style and storytelling ability.
One of K.O’s greatest strengths has been his ability to adapt to changing musical trends. As amapiano emerged as South Africa’s dominant genre, he successfully embraced the new sound without abandoning his hip hop roots. His smash hit SETE, featuring Young Stunna and Blxckie, became one of the country’s biggest songs, breaking streaming records and topping music charts for months. The success introduced K.O to a new generation of listeners while reaffirming his place among the country’s most influential artists.
He has continued that momentum with releases such as 20 Summers, Hotela and Supanova, proving that he remains a major force in the local music industry. His ability to collaborate across genres has also allowed him to stay relevant in an ever-changing entertainment landscape.

Beyond the music, K.O has established himself as an entrepreneur, building the Skhanda World brand and expanding his influence beyond recording and performing. His business ventures reflect his long-term vision of creating opportunities within the South African entertainment industry while inspiring younger artists to think beyond music alone.
Speaking previously about the secret behind his longevity, K.O explained that remaining accessible and open to growth has been key to sustaining his career.
“Your availability is your currency,” he said. “By availing yourself and interacting with other people, you’ll most likely have opportunities come your way, and you’ll also learn from others and go back to your own drawing board and recalibrate.”
With anticipation building around his upcoming announcement, fans are now eagerly waiting to see whether the event will become a landmark moment for South African hip hop. If K.O’s track record is anything to go by, the fourth quarter could deliver one of the most memorable live rap experiences the country has seen in years.
