According to SK, their decision isn’t about quitting the craft, it’s about refusing to accept poor treatment.

We are not done with the entertainment industry, but we are done with mediocrity,” SK explained.

You may receive a role, everything seems fine, and you sign the contract; however, many productions now fail to pay actors at the end of the month while still expecting them to work.”

He expressed frustration over how production houses often prioritise equipment, locations, and logistics, while sidelining the very people who bring the stories to life, the actors.

In any production, cars get hired, wardrobes are bought, and catering and locations are hired because you cannot get to shoot without those. But come month-end, actors are not paid without an explanation. We are tired of that.”

After two decades in Johannesburg, SK revealed that he’s relocating back to Durban, his hometown.

The move is part of a broader vision to invest in the next generation of local talent and remain grounded in the community that raised him.

I missed being at home,” he shared, adding that he’s also exploring new ventures like radio and has his eye on joining a local production such as Uzalo.

I would love nothing more than to work here at home. I would jump on a role on Uzalo, a show that speaks to the people at home.”
