Cosatu president Zingiswa Losi says the labour federation and ANC’s alliance partners want the party to acknowledge that it owes public servants – due to unfulfilled agreements. She was speaking on the sidelines of the ANC’s 112th-anniversary celebrations, underway in Mbombela- in Mpumalanga.
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa is currently delivering the January 8th Statement. Losi says Cosatu wants the ANC to address issues affecting workers in the statement.
“We hope that the ANC is going to acknowledge that it has short-changed… it’s owing public servants, but it’s not just about the salary of those negotiations that were reneged upon; it is about the filling of vacant posts in the public sector, particularly in the health care and police.
If you go to the hospitals, that if you don’t do, has a huge impact – not just on workers, but also on the community. Now, we’re hoping here, that the ANC is going to speak about the rollout of the infrastructure programme, and we want timeframes, solid timeframes,” says Losi.Ramaphosa says the party will continue to work on uniting the country.
