Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Kenny Morolong, was also in attendance.

Police have been searching for Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli, who have been missing since February.

Four suspects have been charged with kidnapping and murder in this case, as police continue with their investigations.

Acting director at the station, Mpho Hadzi, said the community and the station had suffered a huge loss.

One of the things that I’m grateful for and I have learned so much is that he has been a mentor. I do what I do today because of what he has carried me from. What he has shown me, the doors he has opened for us. So for us, it was more of leadership, it was more of what he can do for us.”
