RIP: Aserie Ndlovu’s loved ones to pay their last respects to slain journalist! The families, friends and colleagues will pay their final respects to slain journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu.

Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli went missing in February, and their remains were found in May.

Ndlovu is being laid to rest on Saturday, in KwaMhlanga, in Mpumalanga, and the Deputy Minister in The Presidency, Kenny Morolong, is expected to attend.

It’s been a long, trying journey for the families of the deceased couple.

Their bodies were found three months after their disappearance, but their families waited a while before DNA tests confirmed their identities.

Mdhluli was buried in Hazeyview, in Mpumalanga, on Friday.

National Press club spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said, “We appreciate the support of the Deputy Minister on the Presidency, Mr Kenny Morolong, who has been with us also mobilising resources to support both families.”

Eight people have been arrested in connection with their murders.

They’ve been charged with various crimes, including murder, kidnapping and possession of stolen property.

Moreover, the National Press Club believes there is no doubt that the case of murder and kidnapping will end up at the High Court.

Mhlanga further said the matter is at a critical stage with the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), as new evidence and arrests tell a complicated story.

“Remember this case, here we’re at the magistrate’s court, it’s only the beginning of it. When the NDDP has made a decision, the case will move to a high court; there’s no doubt about that, we just need to know which one.

“Because we are here in Kwa Mhlanga, which is 30 minutes to Pretoria, but we are also in Mpumalanga, so there may be a satellite high court somewhere to handle this matter.”
